If a grid connect system is producing more power than is being consumed, the surplus is fed into the mains power grid. A Solar standalone system does not have a connection to the electricity mains. If 24 hours electricity is to be supplied to load, the solar generated power needs to be buffered with a battery. Cellular telephone service is a rapidly expanding and very competitive business world over including developing countries like India, Telecommunication towers are used widely for providing uninterrupted cellular services normally Telecommunication towers are located on remote places like elevated vast open spaces along high ways , up country locations , hills where availability of power is difficult and hence these sites have typically been powered by diesel generators. A Solar + Wind Mill Hybrid system does not have a connection to the electricity mains. If 24 hours electricity is to be supplied to load, and to refine the raw power from Wind mill the solar and wind generated power needs to be buffered with a battery trough controller. 4. Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV):-
Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) are increasingly incorporated into new domestic and industrial buildings as a principal or ancillary source of electrical power, and are one of the fastest growing segments of the photovoltaic industry. Typically, an array is incorporated into the roof or walls of a building and roof tiles with integrated PV cells can now be purchased. Arrays can also be retrofitted into existing buildings; in this case they are usually fitted on top of the existing roof structure. Alternatively, an array can be located separately from the building but connected by cable to supply power for the building. A BIPV system can be installed during the actual building phase of construction, as well as retrofitted for a later date.
 
Roof Mounted BIPV Modules
BIPV modules can be integrated into exterior glass walls via laser patterning. See-through solar modules unlike to Light through modules have higher transparency these modules do not necessary have to be placed on rooftops. Instead, these modules can be used as the architectural glass, and it avoids the reuse of materials that helps to reduce the impact on the environment. Meanwhile, the electricity generated from BIPV modules could also help achieve Independent power supply.
 
Government Subsidies:

Efforts are now being made to construct Green Buildings under the scheme of MNRE called "GRIHA" all over the country which not only take care of energy conservation but also look into water and waste management, environmental impact, minimum destruction of natural resources and various other aspects in an integrated way

To encourage Architects and consultants to design buildings on Green Architectural concepts and get them rated under GRIHA, and incentive as per below will be available from MNRE.
- Rs. 2.50 lakhs for projects upto 5000 sq.m. built-up area with minimum 3 star rating
- Rs. 5.0 lakhs for projects > 5000 sq.m. built-up area with minimum 4 star rating

Procedure for release of the incentives to architects/ design consultants and settlement of account with MNRE One of the criteria under GRIHA is to meet 1% of total connected load for interior lighting and space conditioning through solar photovoltaics. It has been decided to support such photovoltaic system through capital subsidy which will be made available under Ministry's scheme on Solar Photovoltaic Systems/Devices for Urban Areas.
